Dickinson & Morris of Melton Mowbray Leicestershire has been baking and delivering pork pies since 1851 and are the oldest remaining bakers of authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies in the town centre. In 1992 after fire devastated their building in the heart of Melton Samworth Brothers in conjunction with English Heritage extensively refurbished `Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe' reopening the shop (which includes a demonstration and heritage area) in the October. In 1996 following a huge demand for Dickinson & Morris pork pies nationwide they were launched into leading high street retailers and have since grown further in popularity. In 2008 the EU granted PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status to Melton Mowbray Pork Pies the registration defines how and where authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies are made and protects the heritage of the product.
