CORGI 1/76 SCAMMEL SCARAB FLAT BED TRAILER AND LOAD - GWR -

Scammell started out in the early 1900s as a wheelwright and coach-building company in London.By 1921 they had built their first articulated vehicle and after a successful exhibition at the Olympia Motor Show that year, they moved their works to Watford, forming Scammell Lorries Ltd in 1922.

From the late 1920s the railway companies were searching for a vehicle that could replace the horse drawn carriage and in 1934 the perfect alternative was found in the Scammell Mechanical Horse.

In 1948 the Mechanical Horse was superseded by the Scarab, with a larger engine, the Scarab was not only more powerful but more stable than its predecessor. The Scarab was used by all the major railway companies of the time, including the Great Western Railway for their town parcel delivery services. The Corgi Trackside collection features a great selection on die-cast road transport vehicles with authentic liveries ideal for both the 1:76 scale collector and the OO railway modeller. The Trackside range is the perfect accessory for a railway layout or a themed diorama. Shop here
