CORGI - DAF 105 SKELETAL - W.CARTER (HAULAGE) LTD. - WOODBRIDGE, SUFFOLK

W. Carter (Haulage) Limited can trace its lineage back to 1929 when the Company transported local produce by horse and cart. Today the Company is owned by Colin and Edward Carter and has established itself as one of the largest container hauliers in the UK. The Company operates in excess of 600 heavy goods vehicles. W. Carter (Haulage) has named its vehicles since 1964 when the first AEC Mandator Series V in the UK was purchased. To celebrate that purchase which at that time was a highly sophisticated and advanced vehicle the vehicle was given the unique name of `Deben Viking' due to the excavation of Sutton Hoo burial ground 2 miles from their head office where the largest warrior tribe treasure trove in Europe was discovered. All vehicles have since been given appropriate names depending upon the country of manufacture. Shop here

VANGUARDS 1/43 AUSTIN 8-CWT VAN - MICHELIN

The 1971 Morris Minor LCV modelled, in this case one of the rare Austin badged examples, is in the livery of the French Michelin tyre company and carries an illuminated Bibendum figure on its roof. Bibendum's name comes from the Latin pharse "Nunest bibendum", meaning "now is the time to drink (or celebrate)". This was used as a title for one of the earliest illustrations featuring the Michelin man, who was shown holding a cup filled with glass shards, nails, and other tyre hazards to indicate that a Michelin tyre takes obstacles in its stride, or, in the French vernacular, 'drinks' them. The name stuck and he is now known all over the world as Bibendum. See more

Castrol was founded on 19 March 1899 by Charles “Cheers” Wakefield in Swindon, England. It was originally named the Wakefield Oil Company. In 1909, the company began production of a new automotive lubricant named “Castrol” (a contraction of castor oil, from which it was made) and as such the company name changed. The company developed specific oil applications for the new internal combustion engine, including automobiles, motorcycles, and aircraft. Shop here

VANGUARDS 1/43 MORRIS J2 VAN MODEL WHITBREAD BREWERY

The J2 range of 15cwt vans and pick ups was designed by Morris but was very much a BMC product and was the corporations first unitary construction van. Launched in 1956 it continued in production until 1967 by which time over a 120,000 had been built. The J2 was originally fitted with the 1489cc version of BMC's B-Series engine, which was used in many different vehicles including the Austin Cambridge and MGA. In 1962 it gained the enlarged 1622cc engine, which was been fitted in the rest of the corporation's products, and a floor change gearbox. A diesel version using the same engine was also offered. In line with BMC's thinking in the late fifties, an Austin badged version of the J2 was made, which differed only grille shape, the Austin being plainer in style and more rectangular. The BMC JU van that was announced in 1967, and produced until 1974 was actually a very heavily revised J2 under the skin. Shop here

CORGI 1/50 FODEN DROPSIDE - PICKFORDS

This is a really charming model, bristling with clever details. Inside the cab there's an interior windscreen, complete with an open drivers window. The headlamps are a work of art, and the under-chassis details really have to be seen to be believed.

Of course, the Pickford's livery will add more than usal appeal to the model; it's one of the best in this series so far. Even the crates look pretty realistic. Shop here
