Thomas Harrington started building horse-drawn wagons at his Brighton premises at the end of the 19th Century. Harrington, based on a strong pedigree of quality and well designed bodies, started to produce horseboxes specifically for British railway companies who, from 1938, offered full-service logistics of cargo ‘from-and-to the station’. This horsebox was mainly used by such railway companies from 1938. but was reliveried in British Rail colours post-nationalisation to carry up to three horses from one set of stables to station, and vice versa on the return leg. The Birds Eye range of frozen foods was launched in the UK in 1938 and this Birds Eye Austin A40 van was used in the late 1950's when efforts were made to launch a direct delivery service for frozen foods.

In the 1950's a young independent Dutch exporter of agriculture and horticultural products,Mr Remeeus started a regular conventional service connecting Vlaardingen and Colchester.Draught restrictions caused the route to be altered and in 1958 Great Yarmouth to Scheveningen was established. In 2006, due to draught restrictions once again, this time in Scheveningen the route will be altered back to its original route Vlaardingen to Felixstowe.

Ken Abram founded his Company in 1962.It was then as it is now a family owned and run business with all that implies in terms of hands on management and attention to detail.The acquisition of land adjacent to its existing premises in Skelmersdale, Lancashire was a natural progression and has resulted in the Company now operating from a hugely impressive 20 acre site.Ken Abrams also has depots in Glasgow, Banbury and Avonmouth.

This is one of the small (1/64th) toy range, eye catching model in the bright red, yellow and white livery, lettered in black and white. model length approx 33cm with a tachograph style limited edition cerfiticate. There's work been done on the printing and the casting is new, so it's worth a look. Shop here
